Hey guys, the alarm on my QX4 has started to beep at night. I think it is the open door sensor in the tailgate that shows that the door is open on and off even though it is not. Anyone know how to fix/disconnect that sensor? Would that shut off the alarm? There was a thread on this earlier but nobody knew which wire in the tailgate is for the sensor. I'll just try to remove the horn so the alarm doesnt make noise for now.

Looks like it might be the driver's side rear door, not the tailgate. Anybody replace or fix the sensor?

Edit: Looks super easy to replace. One screw and a plug. I'll run down to Nissan stealership and order a new one. Hopefully that will fix the alarm issue.

I have a similar issue with the door sensors. but mine is every time i take off from a stop the light comes on showing all the doors are open for a second on the dash panel and the interior lights come on. Annoying at night driving. Mine is a 98 and i can't find the tailgate sensor. My alarm doesn't go off, only interior lights. I turned them off for now. I am going to take a look at all the door sensors and see if i can clean them with electrical parts cleaner. But in the mean time, does anyone know where the tailgate sensor is? I will report back if the cleaning works.

cleaning solved my problem with the interior light going on whenever i take off from a stop. The rubber boots are all shot on mine so i cut the tips off of them. The sensors were pretty dirty. I don't think the tailgate has a sensor and the drivers side sensor had 3 prong connector and the others were a single prong. I didn't do the passengers side because the boot was intact and looked good.

No luck. Got a new sensor from Nissan $40, now when the rear door is open the door ajar light is not on at all but flickers when i drive around (on right turns mostly). Dont know about the alarm yet, just installed it.

It's the driver's door sensor that is bad. Makes sense since it gets the most use and the most wear. If you disconnect it the flickering will go away, alarm won't go off at night and interior lights will not come on when driving. But I ordered a new one from Nissan since I want the interior lights to work at night when I open the door and for headlights to turn off as soon as I open the driver's door too. You can't exchange the one from the passenger side because they are different.

well the door ajar lights started flickering on mine again and only when i step on the gas hard. I think you are right about the driver's door sensor because it has 3 prongs and maybe that one has something to do with the rear gate light and door? because the other sensors are only 1 prong. Mine has gotten a little better since cleaning but, it is at it again. Yeah, real annoying at night while driving, looks like a party in the back, hahaha

Probably an observation you're way past, but I'll throw it out there anyway. On mine the plastic coating on the hatch latch is torn up and makes it difficult to get it fully latched. Looking for a good one the one I found similar in the local P and P was the same, suggesting it's a common problem. I'm guessing because of that the PO of mine had both the front and rear interior lights switched off. Even if it is fully latched it might still be a problem.

I replaced the driver's door sensor and that fixed all the issues. $32 at Nissan dealer.

Just wanted to mention that a new sensor was not the only thing I did. I also sprayed the connection with WD40 and added electrical connection grease to it. And I put a few layers of double sided tape on the spot on the door that touches the sensor. You might want to try this before getting a new sensor.
