Lawrence Wright wrote this article. If you havent heard of him, I suggest you look up his last book, The Looming Tower. Its a bone chilling analysis of the roots of muslim terrorism. I've read the book. Twice.

In any case...

Nice find.

Quote »On January 6th, Zawahiri issued another tape, this time blaming Obama for the Israeli incursion into Gaza. “Muslim brothers and mujahideen in Gaza and all of Palestine: what we face today is not an occupation of a settlement limited to a specific area or a specific country,” Zawahiri remarked. “Rather, it is a link in the chain of the Crusade against Islam and Muslims. These raids are Obama’s gift to you before he takes office.”
This quote is showing a desperate Al Qaeda. Propaganda like that is intended to keep mainstream Muslims angry with America. Its also intended to keep their current Mujahideen from straying. Any person with basic reasoning skills can deduce that these quotes are strait garbage. A lot of the middle east however is so infused with hate for the United States that some of this propaganda will hit its mark however, this preemptive strike on Obama should have a negative effect for Al Qaeda.

Quote »and Muslims everywhere to remember: “This is Obama whom the American machine of lies tried to portray as the rescuer who will change the policy of America. He kills your brothers and sisters in Gaza mercilessly and without affection.”
As weird as it might sound.. I actually like hearing this kinda stuff come out of Al Qaeda.

IMO it alienates them from anyone with anything resembling an open mind. Honestly, it might even make some people (albeit the dumb ones) who are self-sworn enemies of the US question Al Qaeda and their cause.

In addition, it seems as if the top Al Qaeda operatives arnt nearly as intelligent as they used to be.

There isn't as much strategy behind this as we think there is. They hate America, no matter what black or white guy is in charge of it.
