Seems like you're getting it from TunerzStore.com which is one of our sponsors (not to mention the owner is a moderator here). I'd say you're getting everything you need. If you have any questions, they have great customer service or you could just PM user "RED_DET" who is the person I mentioned in the last sentence.

And yes, going BBK isn't cheap.

Unless you track the car you're unlikely to be satisfied with the difference for that amount of money. Upgraded lines and pads would probably be plenty for street driving.

I think 90-95% of the people that do this upgrade are doing it for cosmetic reasons, not performance or necessity.

They do look cool but that's a lot of money to spend on that IMO. It doesn't look that cool not 2 grand cool.

Yep, this is the only reason I'd really do it and why I haven't...as Dred said, I can't justify $2k for a largely cosmetic mod. I'm a good enough driver that I leave myself distance, etc. 99% of the time (I ride a motorcycle so I'm SUPER aware of my surroundings, space, etc.).

Only way I'd do this is if I could get everything from a donor car for $500 or so.

I agree. Those calipers look brilliant. Maybe I'm too frugal to spend that much on something that makes very little difference in safety or performance. My Brakemotive rotors and pads have save me many times while braking in huge puddles from a good speed. I doubt akebono would have done $2,500 better. Instead, I added MGP caliper covers to my standard brakes and they stand out much better, 'look' much sportier and get noticed very often. They also keep the brakes cooler and dramatically reduce brake dust on my wheels because the dust is expelled under the car and onto the roadway.

Calipers and OE replacement rotors are all that is required for this mod, right? Everything else is optional and/or an upgrade. So with used calipers and new OE equivalent rotors this should be doable @ $1300'ish.

reason why i want to the upgrade is due to when i'm doing high speeds my car steering starts to vibrate, so i was think if i upgrade my brakes just what i did with my Lexus it would stop. so if someone has a better plan i'm open for it

I'm very intrigued by this as the one rear brake caliper that I had replaced with a Centric part is rusting and unsightly. Easy install? How are they mounted?

Having just upgraded my stock brakes (non sport) to the Akebono kit from TunerzStore a couple weeks ago...I can say they made a very noticeable difference in stopping power and pedal feel. I opted for slotted rotors and Project Mu pads. The dust shields in the rear must be cut to fit the bigger rotors and the front must be bent back in one spot to fit. If you opt to buy/replace the dust shields it's going to be a lot more time and labor to get the old one's off and the new ones on. I would advise tin snips to cut the old ones.

While the upgrade does look nice I did this for the performance; but I also drive it hard. When I was on Tail of the Dragon 2 years ago I had brake fade and had to back off the entry speed. It wasn't that I pushing 10/10 it was just constant hard braking and the stock brakes couldn't take the prolonged use. IMHO all M37/56 Q should have sport size brakes based on the size and power of the car.

While it is pretty expensive; make no mistake this IS a performance upgrade.

Same here. Bought a caliper from Rock Auto and it looks like it's 200 years old now. If you click the link you'll see what it looks like now. If you scroll you'll see what it looked like brand new. https://www.flickr.com/photos/22693517@ ... res/85oq1u It's clicking like crazy now so I'm going to rebuild the old one (glad I didn't send it back for credit yet) and send them back their BS caliper.

Also, I was looking at brake pads last week and I noticed there is a different brake booster for the sport vs. non-sport models. Any one else come across this and would it make that much more of a difference?

I have had no one purchase the OE dustshields.... the cost to include labor vs the minimal time to modify the existing dust shields is a no brainer.
We normally have another rotor alternative, Stoptech standard rotors which are included in price, but they are out of stock @ stoptech for the rears.

This is what my rear dust shields look like after the trim. You have to trim the whole lip around circumference and you have to trim out the area on top to expose more of the caliper mount to accommodate the bigger size.

Stoptech Standard Rotors now available... $1641 plus shipping for the kit you outlined w/o dust shields.

So I just found out that the stock/non-sport spare tire that I have will not fit over the new BBK. FYI. Guess I need to track down a spare tire for the sport model assuming its different.
