to my knowledge, very few S14s have an AIV (maybe none of them.) If someone knows inform us... The factory realized how pointless and troublesome they were and just omitted it. If you do have one, just look for a black cube bolted onto the driver's side strut tower. That cube, and all the plumbing attached to it is the AIV. If you want to clean it you can, but I just removed mine completely (unless your in a funny place that preforms engine inspections you will never hear about it again.)

You really need to check the ignition parts (i.e. wires plugs, ignition coil, cap and rotor) and then look for a hole in one of your vacuum hoses. Those are the most likely problems.

also, finger the bottom side of your egr valve (haha very funny...) to see if it still clicks up and down.

LOL. XNS, nissan loves to use different names for the same thing.

PAIR=AIV

But seriously, just get rid of the thing. Doesn't do anything but screw with your idle when it gets dirty. But when you do get rid of it, do me a favor and adjust your idle via the IAC screw in the intake mani.

ok i did some things, well i just bought this car like 2 days ago, when i looked at the dis, the thing was at full mechnical advance, i backed it off a little, and idle is a little better it doesnt stall out sitting there any more, gonna go get some seafoam tommrow and i guess ill check the egr valve. i eman the car pulls very well in high revs but likes to stumble in low revs.
