Do you guys remove the AIV valve ? on an sr20 swap

What does the AIV valve do ??

I thought the AIV injected fresh air into the exhaust stream to help heat up the cat or something. Meh, who cares. Take a couple quarters or something roughly that size and put them in the hole, then weld around them.

yeh the AIV injects air into to the exhaust system , more for the catylitic convertor , so help speed up the catylitic process when your car first starts up.

i'd like to add to this thread, even though i don't have an SR (yet )

anyhow... would the AIV injecting air into a OE exhaust system and a clogged OE cat. converter explain the bogging on my KA? (already done: newish plug/newish wires/maf was cleaned (it was spotless already)/TB cleaned)

sky, I believe the KA has EGR, which is kinda the opposite of AIV, it pulls exhaust fumes from the exhaust stream and injects them into the intake stream.

At least, as my understanding goes, I may be wrong. Anyone care to correct me?

The reason I posted and then deleted it is because I cant find any info about an AIV in the S14 SR FSM, just the EGR. So my guess it that the hole on the O2 extension is just a part of the EGR system. Thoug im too lazy to check my friends crap blacktop down the street, and we've already dismatled the EGR. Guess i'll just wait for another engine to come into my neighborhood.
