today was my day off work and school was over, i decide to remove my AIV piping(connect to the header) to see if it what affect the idle.

spray the bolts with d40 to make things easier
unbolt this bolt make things easier

after i unbolt it i turn the engine on, let it idle for 5 mins. the idle was where it was suppose to be. nothing change except for the horrible loud ricey sound.
it was getting dark so i bolt everything back up.then got online and found out you can use a .25 quarter to block the hole and screw it back in with the same bolt.
EDIT: its not a quarter, its a nickel (wrong info on the net about the .25)
MORE TO COME... WILL SEE IF I PASS SMOG WITHOUT THE AIV....WILL REMOVE IT AND SMOG IT SOMETIME NEXT WEEK...

You can use the same plug that goes into the header for the o2 sensor to fill that hole and then use a normal sized bolt to plug it. Tho emission-wise you should pass with that box removed (it's only to heat the intake air during start-up right) Visually I think they may fail you. Tho I had my 240 smogged today and they looked around hella quick, and didn't check much.

ive got mine welded over. passed smog with flying colers. if you hook everything up nice and neat, itll pass visual

i remove mine today...i use a nickel to block the hole and screw it back in for now until i can get it weld...picture without aiv....

Lol when I first got my car that box and stuff was still bolted in their. But the guy before me or the one before him had weided it closed but left all the AIV stuff bolted in the car . . . So I took all that crap out.
