Can anybody tell me what models of 240's they put an AIV on, and where it's located? I don't really know where to look, but I took a quick peek the other day and couldn't find one. Thanks!

'Kthanks, I'll take another look... your not referring to where you put the air filter in, right?

I was inspecting that, but couldn't get it off of the hose leading downwards... I'll put a little more elbow grease into it I guess. Thanks K-Car, I don't know where I'd be without your help. Oh wait, yes I do... the Nissan Dealership.

Is it IN the black box, or underneath it. If it does happen to be inside it... how the %#&* do I get the box open?

Dang... it looks like it's sealed shut. I'm having idle irregularity, so I looked in the faq about how to fix it and I have to clean the aiv... but HOW????

Uh oh K-Car... you were wrong

This is in the FAQ under AIV servicing... I just took another browse through.

* Servicing the AIV (Air Intake Valve)

We owe the inspiration to get the AIV valve out and serviced to Kitty47200 (sorry, haven't seen your names yet). They said they were doing that and had decent results.

Anyway,

The AIV is easy to do. We suggest NOT removing the whole assembly from the car. Just take a real hard look at it and find the 4- screws that hold the 2- halves together. Remove the small vacuum line to the top, the larger one, and take the 4- screws off. Pull the top half off and there is a kinda "cap" over the reeds. GENTLY pry the assembly out of the housing. There are 2-sets of reeds. We only did one at a time so we could see how they went back together. With a wire brush and a can of carb cleaner, all we had to supply was a little elbow grease.

What they're refering to is the thing underneath the black box. Just thought I'd make sure to clear that up, so nobody was getting false info.
