Hey,I read this: zer...age=4

But, the pictures seem to be missing..

Does anyone have a step by step guide on this?

Also, one guy put a filter on one of the hoses, is this required, what are the pros and cons of that?

Thanks,Josh

You dont need the filter. Just disconnect the hose at the filter. the aiv is getting its air from the filter area. the problem is that reed valves leak and send water and exhaust into your intake and rust out your maf and contaminate throttle body etc. There is a guide if you want to remove the whole thing in the article section.

Hey, I looked in the air intake box and it looks like it is BRAND NEW... Ill take pics later, but I am getting hesitation which is why I want to remove it..

So just plug up all holes, filter does nothing and isnt needed, right?

Thanks,Josh

The hose that goes to filter box is the only thing that causes problems. Once you disconnect that hose , water and exhaust cant get into your intake/maf, etc.. If disconnecting that hose does not help idle, you will have to look elsewhere such as iacv. aiv does not do much , so there are virtually no consequences to disabling it.

the following thread explains removal of aiv. it is overkill to remove entire thing especially if you have emission checks in your area.

Thanks, Ill try the hose first, then possibly remove the entire thing..

No emissions checks in the state of SC

Alright, I took the hose off between the black box and the air filter, and capped both of the ends using the braces that were on the hose on new rubber caps, that I got at Parks..

I noticed some stuttering for about 100 meters, then it cleared right up.. I am going to drive it for a few days and see what happens.

Im not sure if you should cap the hose. just plug the hole in filter box. that way the aiv is still getting air. i honestly dont know if plugging that hose will cause any problems. i guess you can drive it and see.

Alright been a couple days and all stuttering and rough idle is cleared up so far :-)

Shouldnt damage anything since you can cap the other parts to it...

My auto transmission seems to shift MUCH SMOOTHER and I only have stuttering very rarely.. Still working on relieving any bad gas so... Ill keep everyone posted :-)

Ok update, it just seems to stutter when cold, and when low on gas.

I replaced the fuel filter not long ago and I bought a spare, think I have crap in the tank??

Should I drain it or what?

Thanks,Josh
