S13 or S14 motor?

S13: It is buried underneath the upper intake mani closer to the firewall. If you down, you will see a black screw of some kind. That whole unit is your IACV.

S14: Not as buried as the S13 one but still by the intake mani. Somewhere between the 3rd and the 4th cylinder. You will also see a screw if you look down on it.

Your aiv is on the exhaust side just above the headers. It has a metal pipe running down to the turbo dump pipe. It must be removed along with the lower turbo heat shield to clear the steering rack/column. You plug the leftover hole in the exhaust heavy throttle has them or get it welded.

He asked for the AIV, not the IACV. The AIV is held on a bracket on the exhaust side of the motor right in front of the black stock catch can.

It's connected to the turbo extension by a long metal tube. When you pull the whole system out, you'll have to plug the hole in the turbo extention.

One thing to note is that only S13 motors had the AIV. S14 and S15 motors had it eliminated in favour of different ECU mappings for idle air intake.

EDIT: Too slow
