Hi, my redtop sr20 shakes a lot during idle, and I'm trying to pinpoint my problem. I've seen some posts about AIV's in KA motors.

Now my question is this: Do redtop SR20's have AIV's???

hmmmm....is there an incorrect way to remove an AIV? if so, could this lead to bad idles?

The aiv and is tied into the boost control solenoid which is also removed. This changes the path of the vacuum hoses and requires you to cap one of the vacuum holes on the intake tube. If you missed capping off the hole on the intake tube, then unmetered air will enter the system.

Also you should have capped off the hole in the 02 extension.

The wastegate will bypass all the removed equipment and run off the nipple on the cold pipe.
