please do give them a call about this body kit, the GTR body kit, and the N-spec one. also ask them about doing GBs and ask for a discount for me on that sweet N-Spec bodykit lolNissan 4 LIFE wrote:Hey if you didn't already know I'm the sedan representative for AIT and I can give John a call tomorrow and get an update...as far as updates with other products, the CF engine cover is now in stock and will work for all 2.5s Sedans and Coupes. IMHO the body kit looks pretty good and they kinda toned it down a bit based on the reviews for the Wondrous kit on the sedans. More will be coming soon and the CF hood prototype should be here soon...I'm still waiting for it myself.
Haha on a side note...John managed to photoshop my old wheels on that mockup picture in the OP and I must say they look good lol (I miss those wheels).
I will get more info up as soon as I can.
I agree with getting rid of the ugly Nissan emblem in the grill. However, it looks like the front facia has a place designated for it. Is anybody the wiser and can enlighten me? I think the kit looks awesome though and I love that it has a place for my fogs (which I paid for and should keep.)dangeris wrote:yeah the trunk looks really nice but if you look at it close, it looks like the back end of a Volvo. I like the front end but a lot of people want to get rid of the Nissan Burger. Why did they incorporate that into the grille is beyond me The side looks good though...
Does anyone know the name of this kit, I e-mailed them about this kit, since I didn't give a name and not knowing at the time about the GTR and N-Spec they probably had no idea which one I was talking about.mcheddadi wrote:

Hey take it from me whos been waiting for all my parts for over a year now from them, you need to be real patient because there is nothing you can do about it and theres no need to raise your blood pressure and get all worked up about it. AIT does not manufacture kits for just Altima's, they have a huge base of cars that they build kits for and because of the recession, they lost a lot of personnel building these kits in their factory overseas (which happens to be in China BTW) and yes the entire factory shuts down for Chinese New Year just like the rest of the country. They have priorities and they build the most of what sells the most which unfortunately is their existing stock on some cars...our cars may be a best seller later on so you have to give them a chance. I will tell you this, their quality is unmatched most of the time and when they are designing a kit it has to be perfect so don't rush perfection...you want a good fitting body kit, dontcha.coderedk wrote:WTFF is this kit ever gonna come out? or be painted im sick of waiting AIT WTF
So is it going to be fiberglass or polyurethane?Beatrice wrote:John tells me it will be done by the end of March. I think that was an approximation, though, so don't hold me to that date. Oh, and also, that grill you see on the kit? It's photoshopped on there. I'm not certain whether that grill will be on the final kit or not. Either way, he's going to paint the kit and send me pics of it installed on the car (I think).
I've heard rumors AIT is making a grill separately. Of course, John has not said anything about this. All he tells me is that they're working on "other things" for the A/C.
is this ever gonna come out? im interested in that trunkBeatrice wrote:Here is a pic of AIT's finished body kit. John didn't tell me exactly how many pieces the kit is, but it looks like 5.
A GTR Front Bumper is coming soon.

Nissan4Life is absolutely correct with the above post. I haven't personally had AIT products on any of my cars until this one, but from the quality of work I've seen on their show cars, they make a good product. Of course, these aren't the most expensive kits on the market, so you have to give them a little leeway when it comes to materials, but their build quality is superb.Nissan 4 LIFE wrote:OK let me speak on beatrice's behalf and for AIT.
I've been prototyping on the 4th Gen Altima before the A/C was even released for sale and let me inform you all how their manufacturing process is done because apparently some people really don't understand how it all works and then they get really upset because it takes soo long for their product to come out. First off, AIT has a reputation that they have to maintain by producing a quality product that has excellent fitment and can hold paint well. They DO NOT have a manufacturing facility stateside, everything gets sent overseas to China most likely for manufacturing and even their factory is affected by the recession because of this useless war and they are short staffed because nobody has money to buy their products.
When someone drops off their car to them for prototyping this is what happens (and this is just my observation): The car will basically sit there for the first month so they can order the parts that they need to build the prototype i.e. replacement stock bumpers...this ensures that you have exact fitment and it works out very well compared to other manufacturers. Then the stock part gets cut up and fitted with their premade molds and finalized into the kits that you usually see in picures. That initial prototype that you see in the pictures are sometimes shown before the prototype is even sent overseas for manufacturing and let me repeat the product that goes on the car is NOT made here in the USA unless its a special circumstance. Now here is the kicker and this is the quality testing IMO...the initial mold gets sent overseas after the 2 month prototyping usually and keep in mind that all items gets sent by boat, not air to save on shipping costs which will get you a cheaper product in the long run and shipping each way can take anywhere from 1-3 weeks to get from warehouse to warehouse because of customs inspections. Then they have to build the mold for the kits and that can take approximately a week barring no holidays there in China and that the guy that builds the mold is not out sick or on vacation (yes they only have 1 person that does it nowadays). After that they create the kit and ship it back once again pending no problems since theres prolly only one guy that does that too. Also one other thing to remember...OUR CARS IS NOT THE ONLY CAR THAT THEY MANUFACTURE PARTS FOR AND THEY HAVE TO GO WITH WHAT SELLS MORE FIRST. It is a business after-all.
So, finally after picking up your car from the initial design of the kit...8 weeks have passed (and thats with zero issues whatsoever) they call you up to come in for test-fitting and if everything fits up perfectly, the prototyper gets the kit, the kit is prepped and painted and the photoshoot is done and alas your official pictures are here. They then call the factory and begin production and that usually takes 8 weeks yet again until items arrive because they basically need to build a good amount of kits so they can ship a large container to save money yet again and yes they must be checked by customs which can delay the process quite a bit most of the time.
Factors that can cause delays:- Customs (I've had items sitting on the docks for 2 weeks waiting for inspection).- The courier from the docks (sometimes they will wait to build up a bank of items before they deliver, the items are going from Long Beach to City of Industry).- The overseas manufacturing plant can be closed due to strike, holidays, single person being sick, etc. (I've had items delayed for over 6 months due to this).- Problems with fitment or even broken prototypes due to mishandling (this is especially bad if the initial mold created here gets damaged because its one of a kind).- And lastly overall priority, due to specialty shows like SEMA and if you didn't notice a lot of new cars are coming out and that's what sells products, new cars. Sad to say that there top cars are usually Civics, Mustangs, Evos, Zs, and GT-Rs to name a few...Altimas are pretty low on the list due to theres not that much aftermarket demand and you guys have to look at the big picture...Just go to shows and see for yourself...theres a very small community of us and its even smaller in the coupe community.
Now I know I may have hurt some feelings here but I just wanted to get the information out and tell you all the sad truth but AIT wants to ensure you get a quality product and they surely deliver...if you don't like that and want something with lesser quality and crappy fitment then go buy those other kits out there or otherwise be patient. I've personally waited over 2 years for all my parts and finally received the last one just a few weeks ago. Just be thankful that there are people here that make sacrifices so you can get these and yes we do call often for you...if you don't believe me call them and ask for John and ask him how many times a week he talks to Ramon. I'm done ranting now lol.
Hey thanks and I will let you know they are taking excellent care of your car over there...I check on it almost every time I go in there and its gonna look really good once you finally get it back. I know a lot of people don't like the GT-R kit because they think its unoriginal but I've given John a ton of input that people are really gonna like and don't let people bring you down about it either...every car that has that kit on their cars has won at shows that they compete in so don't worry. If its painted right, it will be phenomenal. I also like "the other stuff" thats being done for your car. Hurry up and come back.Beatrice wrote:

I know it's taking a while for this stuff to come out, but like N4L said, they have other cars to work on with higher demand. Plus, I think John is very open to input from his customers and I'm pretty sure he's been following the feedback in these forums. I have personally withheld my opinions about either the GTR kit or this kit so he doesn't feel like he's making a custom kit just for me. Therefore, I think the reason these kits are taking so long is that they are constantly being improved upon and made to look better and better so they have the widest appeal and will sell better. It's a business.
I would have kept you guys updated better about this, but I'm currently serving overseas. I'll be back in a few weeks, so you'll get a buttload of pics of whatever I can point my camera at. I know it's hard to be patient, but think about being away from your car for an entire year! I miss it
Good looking out N4L. I appreciate you checking up on it. What's this "other stuff" they are doing to my car? Hmm, interesting.Nissan 4 LIFE wrote:

Any updates? Its mid septemberBeatrice wrote:I talked to John yesterday and he told me that this kit is under production at the factory and will be available by mid-September for purchase. I didn't get to see the finished product--I'll do that when I go back on Wednesday... (and hopefully not forget to charge my camera). As for the trunk, it will be available in both carbon fiber and fiberglass, so I'm assuming the rest of the kit is fiberglass as well. I know polyurethane is a better material, but I think N4L can tell you his kit is still going strong on his daily driver. Anyway, most of the details I've already wrote into the GTR kit post, so look at that if you want to know more, since it seems that thread is more popular anyway. I'll post information about both kits in the GTR kit thread from now on. Mods, can you change the title of the GTR kit thread to something like, "AIT body kits" or something? If not, whatever.
