I was wondering if there was a formula for determining the optimum lift and duration of an n/a cam that could be applied to the KA24DE for a certain RPM range(say 3000-7000). Specifics like airflow velocities and head flow capacity would be needed but is there a way to compute the optimum cam?

When I got a special cam for my 510, I had to tell the guys what intake system I was using, (eg: type of carbies & how many), what size exhaust I had & most importantly, what I was doing to the head & compression ratio.

A lot of aftermarket improvements are just hit & miss, & positive results are normally from previous experiences. Talk to a reputable Camshaft grinder, like someone the racers recomend.

Maybe Q45tech will shed more light than I can. :D
