I finally removed my entire Bose system for Kenwood deck and 6x9's front and rear. The installation went fine but now I get the Airbag light, the digital odometer resets each time to zero with power off, and the analog clock does not work. Are there any connections associated with the Bose harnesses or near the airbag module behind the radio that I could have bumped or disconnected? Fuses are OK. All else is fine including the new sound system.

On another note, does anyone need the Bose amped rear 6x9's (they are both post-recall and work fine) and Bose head unit; free to any Q owner in the Sacramento area. The FM section head unit works great but I've never checked out the cassette; but it did work with a CD adaptor.

I switched out my head unit a few years ago. Still have one Bose speaker (front drivers side) to replace.

I can't imagine what you may have touched to cause those problems. Did you use a wiring harness to install the stereo or did you try to figure out what each wire meant?

How did you get the 6x9's in the front. Did you build a baffle? Any pics?

DrewI used a standard Crutchfield adaptor plug for the Bose. I only used the large plug off the OEM harness. The smaller plug is for the rear speakers but I rewired these with new speaker cable. I tapped into the OEM speaker wires at each door without cutting the Bose plug because running new wires from the doors would be difficult. I was able to get Kenwood KFC 6909's (4-ways) by building out a raised surface the outline of the mounting area of the speaker. They are angled about 15 deg. up at the front side to clear the panel. The base-to-door piece is 7-ply baltic birch with the raised mount made from 3/4" MDF. I used the old Bose boxes for a pattern. The cardboard backing on the door panels needs a little trimming for clearance, kinda trial and error.I trimmed away any solid plastic under the grilles to provide a larger sound window than the cutaways for the 4" Bose. I still need to tweak the design a bit and possible rotate the speaker a bit down (one of the snaps won't seat due to the 1/2" plywood). If I had it to do all over again, I would use a 1/8" sheet phenolic for the base rather than plywood with after market speaker rings. I used a DynaMat clone under the mounting area and so far no buzz or rattles. They sound unbelieveable and really fill the car. I'll try to take some pics when I pull the panels next time.

Sounds like you performed a great install.

I contemplated 6x9s in the front but didn't want to do all that work. I ended up installing Infinity reference 5-1/4 in the door (one so far though). I ran new wire from the radio to all speaker locations. It doesn't take too long to do at the front... just use a piece of wire hanger to punch through the rubber grommet with the wires taped to the other end and pull through under dashboard. I kept the bose enclosure and used a jigsaw to widen the hole since the new speakers had a slightly larger diameter. I then cut the back off the bose box so there was no enclosure...(the speakers are free air). Installed the component tweeters on the upslope of the door molding. I bought a Nissan wire harness from Best buy...Poineer double-din radio with cd player and cassette purchased off the web. The rear has Kenwood 6x9s and I installed an amplifier under the rear deck where it's hidden. In the trunk is a double-ended 8" bazooka tube... I installed it with quick disconnect plugs and fabricated a handle so it can be removed when I take those big luggage trips to the airport. I plan to install a small 60W alpine amplifier that I've had forever somewhere up front under the dash.. This will be used to power the front speakers.

I suggest running good speaker wires for the fronts since the stock wires were feeble...mostly because the signal was being amplified at the speakers instead of from the source so all they needed was light gauge. I dont think you would have touched the clock connections since it's above the radio but it doesnt hurt to check (if fuses are good).

Now you need to get the "bose" comment from down below your posts! :)

Good riddance I say!!!
