airbag sensor problem; headed to dealer tomorrow

Over the weekend the sensor on the passenger seat that measures weight apparently quit working. My daughter got in the front seat and the airbag didn't turn off. I confirmed it by placing various objects in the front seat. In every instance the passenger "airbag off" light came on, then extinguished after the system was powered up.

I'm busy today, so it's off to the dealer tomorrow to have them look at it.

Could be the sensor harness recall, if you haven't had it done already. Only affects some '07 hatches, but the symptoms match what you're describing exactly.

The harness recall description indicates that the light comes on and the airbag would not deploy. I have exactly the opposite problem. The light goes off and the airbag would deploy.

Do you still think it's the same malfunctioning harness?

I see the recall was issued in June '07. Mine was assembled in May '07. Did they catch that there was a problem that quickly or did the recall only affect earlier models?

My apologies, I read your inital post wrong... you're right about that part.

But it still may have something to do with the harness.

The gremlins are after me. This morning I went and tested it again before I drove to the dealer and the system seemed to be fine. I guess I'll just have to watch it closely and drive directly to the dealer the next time it acts up.
