airbag removal + insurance?

i heard somone talking about if somone else hits you and you dont have air bags they wont cover you or somthing? does anyone know about this?

To the best of my knowledge not having an airbag in an airbag equiped car does nothing to your coverage. Infact it will more than likely save your car from being totaled in a accident where the airbag would have deployed if you had one, as they are very expensive to replace.

Its illegal to remove your airbag do to tampering with a safty device, so the insurance companys might not cover you.

My dad works as an appraiser for XXX insurance company and the main thing they look for is whether the air bag(s) have been deployed, not; if there are any, or if theve been tampered with, just whether they deployed. Since insurance companies don't write tickets your not going to be in any hot water. They could really care less what you do to your car. Just don't wreck it and there happy.
