Airbag Malfunction light

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

Whenever something heavy is on a front passenger seat (be that a child, a dog or a heavy bag), a warning light is on saying "passenger airbag is off". What I found however, if this happens often, the airbag malfunction warning light on the dash would come on and stay on. I went to a dealer & all they did was reset the light and advised me not to put anything heavy on the seat. I didn't argue at the time. But now, the malfunction light is on again & I'm thinking to go and make them take a better look at the issue.
Has anyone had something similar? Any thoughts?

So , you're not allowed to have any Passengers, cause the Dealer can't properly fix it?

They imply you're not allowed to have passengers that are lighter then an adult on the front seat. I don't think it's right.

Some Car-manufacturers don't like small Kids in the Front-seats.

Liking & not liking are emotions & they have nothing to do with an issue :)
The weight sensor is there to disable the airbag if a passenger is lighter then certain weight. As you know, it's done because of previously done research that revealed that children may be fatally injured by the airbag itself. No deploy - no injury.
Now, if they have an algorithm in place, to trigger airbag malfunction light if disabling happens to often, this should be clearly stated in the manual & known to owner.
What happens if my dog is on the front seat? Or a heavy bag with laptop & bunch of papers?
