[95 HB] Airbag light on?

I just purchased a 1995 Reg Cab D21 and the airbag light is on. I have looked at tons of 95's online and they have the same steering wheel as I have with no airbag present. Why would I have an airbag light on? Is it possible that the steering wheel was swapped? Based on all the pics I have looked at I don't see any 95s with airbags. Please correct me if I am wrong.

This is like the setup I have, as you can see the steering wheel does not have an air bag. Is that the correct wheel for a 95? What do you experts think?

I have been looking through the service manual and I can't find anything on it. But the fact you have an Air-Bag Light makes me think you do indeed have an air-bag in your 95.

I know my 95 4x4 Hardbody had one and I seem to recall it even had the letters SRS embossed in the horn pad.

One thing about most airbag systems is that they are supposed to be inspected after 10 years. Maybe there is some service required on yours.

An srs equipped truck will have the light flash if the squib is not present in the truck.It has to be monitored by the control unit.If there is no resistance through the bag then it will set a code.

Well that would tell me that the airbag has been removed which then tells me that it would be safe to remove the bulb from the socket since an airbag is not part of the NY inspection process. Thanks guys! That info helps a XXXX-load.

I've got the same exact wheel on my 95 hb, NO airbag in mine. Not sure if there is an AIRBAG indicator on my dash, I'll go take a look later. Perhaps the previous owner swapped the instrument cluster with another one with lower mileage?

Ok. so I checked it out and I don't have the same EXACT wheel, yours has cruise control. No airbag symbol on the wheel, no indicator lamp on my cluster that I could see.

I pulled the cluster to remove the lamp only to find that the cluster had been replaced by one with an airbag lamp from a later truck. Removed lamp, problem solved.
