Ok, well I am currently deployed and my wife is driving my 05 G35 Sedan while I am away. She recently told me that the Red Airbag light between the Speedo and Tach continuously blinks and does not shut off. She took it to the dealership and they told her that it would be $3000 but never told her what the issue was. I cannot imagine that it would cost that much for a relay or whatever small sensor that has gone T-U. If anyone has had this issue before, please advise on possible fix. The last thing I need is for my pregnant wife to be doing 70Mph down 285 and the Airbag deploy for no reason. Thank you.

Hello sir,

First I would like to thank you for your service to this nation.

Secondly I would like to help yopu reassure your wife the airbag will NOT spontaneously activate. When the light is on or flashing the system is in failsafe mode. Meaning it will not function, until the codes are cleared.

There are several reasons for this light to come on. If you could have your wife look at the receipt from the dealer and see what they wrote on the repair order for the airbag light it might help give us an idea of what the problem is.

Has she had the seat airbag harness update recall performed?

The seat airbags are the most common source of faults due to harness stretching and momentarily effecting communication between the airbag unit and the control unit.

As for the price of the module (which ever one it may be) yes that is a mid range price. Air bags are some of the most expensive parts on the car. And although failure is uncommon they do have a useful life of 10 years.

Hey what does T-U mean?

Thank you for the response. I will have my wife look at the receipt and post it up here. I will also assure her that the airbag will not deploy on failsafe mode. Again, thank you for the response. T-U means "Tits Up" (Dead). Thanks
Ian
