Just hardwired a radar detector to my Versa. Everything works fine, but my air bag light is now flashing. Im going to go double check fuses just incase. Anybody had this problem? Oh, I hard wired it to the back of the stereo.

Ok, If I take out the airbag fuse under the dash, it go to solid on. Im going to go up and reset any computer codes and see if that fixes it.

Did you unplug the indicator light when you were wiring this into the stereo area?

If so, this is why it occurred. You are NOT supposed to unplug that light, you are supposed to unclip the whole assembly from the dash piece.

You may end up having to have the dealer reset it.

Yes I unplugged the passenger side airbag light.

You cant reset it by leaving the battery unplugged for a couple hours or anything like that?

Not sure... never tried. Won't really hurt anything, worst it will do is reset your stereo settings and, if you have BT, erase your phone book.

Well, dealership said $96 to reset the airbag light. So im trying to hunt down people at local Nissan dealerships to try and hook me up. No way im paying $96 for an airbag scan.

I had the same problem happen when I had a deck and speakers installed. They tried to take the fuse out and the battery and everything but nothing worked, also because the car is so new a lot of places dont have the program to clear the codes. I ended up having to go back to the dealer but surprisingly they cleared it for free.

Well, there is alot of nissan dealerships in St Louis, so now that my stereo is done, one day I just start going to them and seeing who will hook me up for free.

The Service Manual gives procedures for diagnosing the air bag warning light without special equipment, but the procedure to reset it requires Nissan's "Consult II" equipment and software. I guess that's why there are so many warnings not to unplug the indicator light...
