Ok, today I started up the Q, and I noticed as I was driving the airbag light was flashing...... Later on, as I get on the highway, the cruise control wont work (ie I cant turn it on via the switch on the dash..... I press the on button but the light doesnt come on and I cant set it)...... I dont know if they are related or not, so any suggestions would be nice.......

I checked the airbag fuse, and its OK........ I dont know how to get the underhood cruise control fuse out (Its one of those big fuses)....... I know their is a self diagnosis in the service manual, but I havent tried that yet..... Ill do that tonight!!!!

How is the light flashing, how many seconds on, how many off etc untill the pattern repeats

I had a door latch problem that when I tried to lock the doors I sent the system into diagnostic mode. It does not go out of that mode until you make it do so.

Check the findings to the manual. They have a procedure to take the system out of diagnostic if that is you problem

Its usually on for .5 secs, off .75 seconds, and then repeats....

There arent any patterns of fast blinks, and then long blinks.....

Ill do the diagnostics, and then post back.........

The airbag was in self diagnosis---- This happened before, and it went away...... Oh well....... The thing that boggles my mind is why it would STAY in diagnosis mode over multiple startups??

Ok, and the cruise still doesnt work........ The light wont come on when I press it (the one on the dash, not the one on the instrument cluster, which is telling me its not getting power)....... Just about a week ago, it was working fine.....

I want to check the fuse (underhood), but I dont know how to get those big fuses out.......

My air bag self diag would not go off evcen when disconnecting the battery. Had to take it out of the mode for it to stop.

Not sure about Q but the J30 has a fuse panel in the drivers wheel well area inside the car and the cover has a nice fuse puller in it.

There is a TSB on this. Repair depends on cycling times of the light.

Ok........ The airbag light is gone now.......

Any ideas on the cruise...... How do you get out those big fuses....... The ones in the underhood area (the cruise control fuse isnt in the wheel well area) that look like blue or gray boxes...... They seem like their in loose (all fo them), but I dont want to pull on them, because with my luck i would break them......

If you are talking about the big box type not the smaller type then you just very lightly wiggle when pulling up.

It could be a number of reasons. I was explained on another car that the most common reasons for cruise not owrking is the switch on the brake pedal going bad. Check for continuity when the brake pedal is released.

Otherwise just use the electrical diagram in the manual to trouble shoot.

Ok......

I did the diagnostic procedure in the SM..... and I think the switch is bad?? I got continuity on the outer two plugs (on the bottom row), but barely any on the inner two plugs (on the bottom row)

Now my question (may be a wee dumb, but a stupid question is one not asked right??? :) ) when it says to go between a connector and the body ground, does that mean I just stick the probe anywhere on the body of the car??

Yes body ground is any metal area on the frame or motor not insulated (ie a metal clip in the door panel, since the door panel is electrically isolated from the door frame)

I think the switch is should be relatively cheap and pretty easy to change out.

Hope it works out well for you

Post your results so this may help others in the future

You might compare the results of your test of the CC switch with the brake switch... I believe they're the same type of switch - but I'm not sure.

Ok...... I tested the connector on the places where it said (#1 connector and body ground), and I got nothing (supposed to get 12volts)........

It says then to check fuse and harness, but I dont know where to go from there...... I dont know how to get the cruise control fuse out, and I dont know what harness to check.......

I am starting to think it isnt the switch, but a blown fuse somewhere......
