Hey guys..

I've had my airbag light blinking the last 4-5 weeks. I had found a thread here that says to turn the car on and off about 4x and it'll disappear. Got nothing though.

I have the car shut off and without my foot on the brake I hit the ignition button twice (where you can see all lights appear on the dash). Once the airbag light is about to start blinking, I shut it off and repeat another 3x. Is that the right way to do it? or is there another way?

These key-dependent reset procedures can be tricky to time accurately when you don't have a conventional key to use.
My post might not be of any help yet, but I'm curious about what else happened to the car 4-5 weeks ago to trigger the light. Did you remove the seat or in any other way disconnect one of the yellow harnesses for the SES system?

Mine has been blinking for the past 3-4 years. I tried the reset procedure years ago, which worked for a few days to clear it but it came back.

I was told I needed a new airbag from the dealer - I'm waiting for our cars to be included in the Takata airbag recall.

I had a similar problem on another car and did a lot of research at that time. The blinking light indicates that the system is impaired and there can be multiple reasons for it. In my case, I found a connector the had become disconnected behind the glove box. I would recommend that you be careful as you troubleshoot - as you could accidentally trigger an airbag release while troubleshooting. Here is caution note:

TROUBLE DIAGNOSIS

Trouble Diagnosis Introduction

CAUTION:
Do not use electrical test equipment on any circuit related to the SRS unless instructed in this Service Manual. SRS wiring harnesses can be identified by yellow and/or orange harnesses or harness connectors.
Do not repair, splice or modify the SRS wiring harness. If the harness is damaged, replace it with a new one.
Keep ground portion clean.

Wow kmiles! An airbag release? That would be crazy!

I wish they would put our cars on that Takata list ASAP if these airbags are truly an issue right now.

I haven't done anything with the car for this to be happening. I'm just treating it as an annoying check engine light. I'll ask my mechanic to erase the light for now just to see how long it takes to pop back on. If it pops back on.

Could be anything from a pretensioner to a clock spring. I almost gurantee you it's not the airbag itself.

If you look up on you tube Nissan 350z airbag reset procedure it should pop up with a guy showing you how to do it in a white one. I removed my seats the other day and followed those steps and it hasn't came back. Took a couple tries but just follow it to the T.

Hey mexillis...

I didn't view the youtube video you are referring too but I had dropped my car off to my mechanic to change my differential and transmission fluids and he seen my airbag light blinking on and off and he took care of the issue. You are right though, it had to do something with a loose wire under the passenger front seat.
