airbag light and horn not working consistenly....related?

My '98 Q is driving me crazy. At first I had a blinking airbag light that wen on and off consistently. I've tried the diagnostic mode reset by pushing the drivers side door switch 10 times within 10 seconds. Now the light goes on and off but inconsistently.... In other words used to blink every second. Now it will blink on stay on and then blink off for 3 seconds and then come back on for 2 etc.

Also my horn works inconsistently now. I know the problems shouldn't be related but I noticed everything at the same time. prior to the flashing airbag light my horn worked. Now it works after 10 pushes or so but only sometimes.

Any help is appreciated my junk is lighting up like a christmas tree and I'm not in the holiday spirit just yet.

sounds like its either your aribag or your clock spring that is at fault

I agree... very possible that the spiral cable is damaged or coming disconnected. I suspect there are some diagnostic steps you can follow in the FSM to see what's going on...
