Did either of you install after market speakers in the front doors? The only reason I ask is because that blinking light is for the supplemental airbags (side curtains I think) and some of the wires in the front doors run pretty close to the speaker locations which you would most likely need to drill through install new speakers.pjneder wrote:If anyone finds a fix for this please post. I have read up on ways to reset it on other Nissan's but not for the altima. I put the Kenwood DNX-7100 in my wifes new 2.5 Coupe this weekend and now the light is blinking. The (st)dealer wants to charge me $115 to hook it up and reset it via the computer!
no, I've had the same problem since I installed my unit, and I'm 100% positive I installed it correctly. The service guy at Nissan said something about either changing the gear shift with the vehicle in the ACC position, or installing the stereo with the vehicle in ACC position (which you have to do when properly installing the PAC SWi-PS for steering wheel control), but I think he was FOS... in any case, they also wanted 110 to reset the computer.. NOT GONNA HAPPEN! In every other Nissaan we've owned, there's been a poor man's way to reset the computer (i.e. vehicle in ACC, and hitting the door close button 7 times), but I haven't yet figured it out for the 4th gen Altimas!nifty wrote:

Well that makes me feel better, I had a close call with some wires in the door but now that I see this seems to be a problem with just the head units I feel safe . I disconnected my negative battery terminal and then after the new one was put back inI reconnected it and I still got the flashing light. I'm taking it in this weekend so Ill see what they have to say, I wont pay 115 for that kinda crap either hopefully a fix can be found or I can argue my way to them reseting it.rjdmmfl1 wrote:no, I've had the same problem since I installed my unit, and I'm 100% positive I installed it correctly. They did not charge me for anything, even though it was clear that I had an after market GPS/CD player in the car. So maybe I would try going to another dealer and see if they will do it free of charge.rjdmmfl1 wrote:no, I've had the same problem since I installed my unit, and I'm 100% positive I installed it correctly. BRAD.......bradz wrote:did you take off the wire that goes into the passenger SRS and the emergency light when you installed your unit? if so, the supplemental airbag warning will flash. to reset it just follow the following procedure:
push the ignition from OFF to ONthe air bag warning light will appear for about 7 seconds and turns off.then push igniition switch OFF immediately.after ignition switch is turned OFF, wait for about 6 seconds.
after you REPEAT THE PROCEDURE 3 TIMES, push the ignition switch ON, this time the ABS warning light has been reset.step on the brake and push the button to start the car. turn the ignition off and start the car. Hope this will help. I did this procedure to my car and it works.
maybe...or maybe people should learn to use the search buttonmzinsmeister wrote:Thanks bradz, btw this post should be sticky'ed
