My 2007 G35 Coupe Airbag Fault light came on. Took to dealer to diagnose. They found fault code B1054 (open circuit) and recommended replacement of airbag, clock spring, and diagnostic module for $2,451. They couldn't troubleshoot any further to identify which was bad. I downloaded the service manual and it comes to the same end. I have the ability to buy locally (craigslist or boneyard) or on ebay each of them separately for $80-200 each. I will do each in sequence (still will be cheaper) but am asking for anyone's opinion as to which would be the most likely to fail? I would think it would be the clockspring, but you may all have more historical data or experience on this. Thanks!

I am very able to do the replacement; I just successfully replaced the gauge cluster (from a private party) to fix a dead fuel gauge (the gauge cluster self-diagnostic is a wonderful thing...)!

Welcome to NICO

Good luck

On my 06 G35 they had to replace the wiring harness that finally resolved the problem

1) I work at a collision center so maybe i can help. first if air bag light is blinking it will just need to be reset by your ignition. air bag will blink when a connection is interupted usually by removing and re installing. or a airbag connecter not being connected all the way or simply over looked. if you didnt remove anything than go to step 2.

2) If not blinking and light is on permanitly you have a defective component. for grins and giggles you could disconnect the batt and wait 05-10 min as I have
seen this work but it was a car with obd1 system and yr car has obd2 cuz you retrived a code already. you can try to clear code if you know a friend with obd2 scanner however it should tell you which bag or sensor is defective

3) has car been wrecked or flooded?

4) if none of #3 then i would start with buying used components in good shape and remember if you disconnect the system it will throw a default code which can easily be reset by your ignition. if the new component did not fix problem hell just list your other component for same $$$ and sell.

There is a reset procedure in the FSM - but if you've pulled the code, you've already found that. Does resetting the code give you any time before the dreaded flashing light comes back?
