Hey guys, I'm new here but I've read a bunch of threads before so I'm sure someone will be able to help me out. I know I'm a bit weird for wanting a stock steering wheel, but I like having a bit of safety with an airbag so I got one today to replace what looks like a racing wheel that was on it originally. I figured out how to get the actual steering wheel on, but I'm having a bit of trouble finding anywhere to hook up the airbag and horn. I'm actually even having a bit of trouble determining which wire is which so if you could shed some light on that, that would be awesome. I have little to no experience and knowledge of this kind of technical stuff so try to be as in detail as possible. BTW this is on a 1992 hatchback if that makes any difference.
This is my first post, so don't grill me too hard for not addressing something, just ask questions to clarify and I'll answer asap.

The car didn't come with airbags that year, so you're not going to have any of the associated wiring or sensors for that operation.
I can't remember what the horn wiring was, but I thought there was just a harness coming out of the steering wheel that connected to the rest of the harness in the steering column.

Oh dang ok. Do you think there would be any way to maybe take the sensors out of another car and mount them in mine to make an airbag actually useful?

I'm not sure if the airbag system is its own hard-wired setup, or if it runs through an ECU or something.
If it were hard wired, I would think there's an impact sensor (basically trips when it sees so many Gs in deceleration fore/aft), that then triggers the airbags to explode. I'm sure it can be done, but you're looking at drilling some holes, routing some wires, possibly changing connectors out, etc.

I would suggest looking at later factory service manuals (97&98 model year) to see the wiring diagrams, and see how its done.
