what do you do with the air temp sensor when you are putting on a cold air intake? just let it dangle?

It depends on the kit. Most of the better after-market kits come with an adaptor (AEM, Injen, etc.). If yours didn't.. either drill a hole in an appropriate place.. or buy an adapter for it. I'm not sure where those are available.. but I've heard people speak of them. If you jet it just dangle.. the temp reading will be off, because it isn't in the intake and it won't have air flowing past it........

Not certain.. I didn't know hotshot made an intake for our cars?! That's cool... it should have an adaptor, they make great parts. Did it come with instructions?

The injen comes with a predrilled area for the temp sensor, but it's not a perfect fit. There are two flanges (for lack of better term) that doesn't allow the sensor to sit flush into the kit, so I had to use duck tape in order to not allow unfiltered air to get throughl. If anyone has a fix on this, I would love to hear it. Should I shave/cut off those flanges that stick out so I get a flush setting? If so, what can we use?

I have a cone style filter, without an extension. Not exactly sure what the hotshot extension looks like, but I've seen the injen and the temp sensor seemed to fit fine in there, sorry ash. Perhaps you should seal the sensor with silicone?

For my intake, the center is hollow with mesh inside. I cut 3 holes in the mesh, 2 for the screws and one for the sensor. Placed it in the middle, tightened it on, and it runs fine. My intake sits in the engine bay, so I don't have problems with the elements. If it is going to be extended into the bumper, I don't think I would try this method due to moisture. If you find a solution, or know a good way to drill mounting holes without causing an air leak, please let me know. I am building an extension for my intake, but haven't resolved what to do with the iat sensor, so my plans are currently on hold.

good luck

What type of silicon is safe and how long should I allow it to dry? Also, I have the extension for my intake just haven't put it on yet. Are there any problems I should look out for before installing it? Is the Heat/Splash guard worth gettting to avoid mositure. if so, what side does the shield go on because I noticed it doesn't surround the filter completely.
