Hello again friends! If you all have been keeping up with my struggle to get my car ready for the dyno... you know i had trouble w/ my clutch and PowerFC.... Now I have everything in working order and i'm just working on last minute details to have her ready for another trip to Georgia...

Well when i was at the tuner... i was told my air temp sensor wasn't working... I don't even think I have an air temp sensor... when i got my clip it had an HKS pod filter... no airbox.

My tuner recommended I get this fixed before i come back. So i'm curious to know whether or not i need an air temp sensor.... Would it effect the how the PowerFC is tuned? And if so... where can i get one?

Any information on the subject is welcome... thanx again guys-Andrew

A lot of people didn't get air intake temp sensors because they were missing, or like your case replaced by an aftermarket filter. I think I read somewhere theres just about 2 voltage ranges, but its important because the computer retards the boost when its hotter to prevent detonation? or did i hear that wrong from somewhere... I coulda sworn kamin ? mighta posted it.

Yeah that power fc is kinda picky but its a good selection because plug and play magic is so nice =)

No air temp on RB25's, only RB26's.

MAF can't do it. By design, it keeps the hot wire (or film) at constant temperature.

things that are good to know.

also, how does the stock RB25 know what the temp is? like when its cold itll run richer?

engine temperature sensor... two wire sensor next to the water temp sensor

The ECU doesn't need to know the air temp. The MAF measures air mass, which is what the ecu wants. a MAP based system uses a MAP sensor and AIT to try to calculate mass.

ALL makes sense now.

eh?: any chance you could take some pics of your map and ait setup for me? would just lend a helpful hand if you could.

Sorry to bump an old topic but where does power fc / datalogit get the input for intake air temp from? Im assuming it effects the tune whenever it gets pretty hot

There is no AIT sensor on a standard RB25 since the MAF sensor compensates for air temperature changes by reading density/mass accordingly. Unless the engine has a MAP sensor, it likely does not have an AIT.

Yeah I know that... but on my power fc it shows IAT and has a reading... is that really just maf voltage then?

If it is between a 0-5V reading, then most likely. The MAF doesn't have a separate temp output or anything so I don't know how PFC is calculating its way to temperature.
