air temp sensor failure!! help!!

hi, my 240sx 1990 dont have the air temp sensor conected. .....it has the sensor , but the wires are cut from the sensor... theres no way to solder the wires and reconect again.... i go to nissan dealer and they dont have this sensor, because my car is import. ....

what can i do ???? remplace with a resistor? p´lease help me!!.... my mpg is worse... the air temp sensor affect my ggas mileage?? thanks...

The air temp. sensor is just used for diagnostic purposes. It will not affect the way the car runs.

If you can just splice the wires back on and reinstall it, then it should be fine.

How can it be impossible to splice?

Oh it will affect the way the car runs for sure. Different air temps have different air densities meaning the computer needs this info to tell how much fuel to mix in. You can't tell me that on a cold morning, you don't have more power than on a hot sticky day.

the nissan dealer dont sell the sensor.... i dont solder the wires back because there arent way to solder it. its very short or nothing.

The ecu doesn't use the intake air temperature sensor to regulate the mixture. The increase in power on cooler days is actually from the more dense air.

Sorry for thread jacking but does a 92 240sx have a air senser in teh airbox also? Because i dont see one.
