Hi guys,
my AC stopped working which means the whole thing only ever blows hot air. Theres no change in temperature whatsoever.
I'm pretty sure the air mix door is stuck or the motor blown. Has anyone ever taken that thing apart?
According to the manual the mix door is behind the center console and it looks like I almost have to take the whole dashboard apart. Is that correct or is there an easier way?

I also did the self diagnostics but my AC controls look different: I have a temperature dial-knob (no up/down) and the selfdiag seems a bit different from the one in the manual. When I get to checking the temp sensors it doesn't show me any temps but I can change between 0°C and 3°C by pushing the defrost button. Is that an offset or did I miss something. But anyhow I'm pretty sure it's the door and not any sensor.

Any help would be much appreciated. As I have an Australian pathfinder, it seems to be not 100% identical to the one from the service manual.
I'm trying to take the dash off but can't get it all off.
Can I upload pics here or do they need to be somewhere else?

Alright I fixed it.

What you need:
Philips screwdriver
Tissue

Steps:
1. Take out glovebox. On the bottom there are two plastic pins that click out, after you can remove the glovebox.

2. Remove the plastic cover around the glovebox. There are 6 screws and a plastic clip next to the top screw, next to the center console. (Top right for right-hand steering, top left for left hand steering)

3. You can now see the blower motor, cooling unit etc. The air mix door motor is next to the center console, a small black box. From underneath you should see the arm that connects the motor and the air mix door.

4. Remove the plug, it's a clip so you have to push the little "nose" from the top.

5. Loosen the 2 screws holding the metal braket.

6. Wiggle out the motor without braking any plastics...

7. Now you can replace the whole motor or you do as I did and open the thing up ( remove the metal braket and open the box.

8. For me there was grease all over the copper sliding contacts which I guess was the problem. I removed all excessive grease.

9. To reassemble take the bottom half with the motor, one gear and encoder (blue thing with 3 pins) and the top half with the half-gear and 2more gears. Putting it back together takes some patience but it can only fit one way;-)

10. Plug in connector and test function: start engine and hold "off" on the ac until all the lights and display come on. With the temp dial, dial up to "4" and by pressing "defrost" go through all the modes 41-46. The motor should move accordingly.

11. Put everything back together in reverse order. Especially putting the motor back in place is a bit annoying.

I hope that helps some people. Will add pics later on:)

I don't seem to be able to edit my last post (weird!). If an admin could insert the pics for me or let me edit it, thatd be great!

looks like i've made it worse actually. what i wasn't thinking about is the potentiometer telling the position of the motor to the ac-unit.
Now when I go through 41-46 in the self-diag the motor only moves once, and then, I think it doesnt recognize the position any more so it won't actually move again.

if someone could do me a favour and measure the resistance at full-cold and full-hot.
basically you just have to take the harness off and then measure between the left and the metal pin on the row with 3 pins.

after all i think i shouldnt have opened that motor and just gotten a new one -.-

Sorry for the repost but I'm having trouble finding a new or used motor anywhere. for the sake of good karma i would be extremely grateful if someone could measure those resistances for me (see last post).
it's a long shot...
