I'm having idling problems where the rpm's drop really low and sometimes stalls, otherwise the engine runs and powers up fine.I've read some posts and I'd like to clean or replace the Air Intake/Induction Valve (AIV).Can anyone tell me where this valve is located? If anyone has a picture could you post it?

Thanks

I don't know of any air intake valves, maybe I've never heard it called that before. Would it be the little pipe on the side of the cam cover?

The AIV is located by the power stearing resivor, it has a hose that connects it to the air box by the air filter. If you do a search there is all kind of information about cleaning it and removing it.http://www.240sx.org/faq/index.html scroll down to AIV

I think I know what he's talking about now, the black box behind the stock airbox, that has a hose that connects to the airbox. And has another assembly that connects to a pipe from the header.

no, it seems like people need to be corrected about this weekly

that box over there is the PAIR valve, it just injects fresh air into the lower part of your exhaust manifold to help warm up the cat faster, jsut for emissions. ive read once that it can affect idleing, but i jsut dont buy that yet.

the IACV (idle air control valve) starts at the largest hose the comes off the intake by the throttle body (not the resonator tube) it goes all the way back to almost the 4th cylinder's intake runner. its possible to get to but for serviceing i think youre going to need to pull of the upper intake manifold

dont you guys ever read your FSM? search "free fsm" or grab the sticky in gen chat, read some, and quit calling the PAIR the IACV, they are quite different

Yeah, I didn't think that sounded right.

I have seen many people on refer to PAIR as AIV if you do a search for Pair you are going to get all kinds of things but AIV wil give him what I think he is looking for. Technalcaly you are right it is not called the AIV, but even if he looks at the FAQ it is listed as AIV. This can go either way, to test if it is the AIV (PAIR) disconnect the hose going from your air box to the AIV (PAIR). See if you still have the same problem. You might want to cover the hole that is left in the air box becaus it will allow unfilted air into the motor. If it fixes it then take it a part and clean it (there is instructions on here) if not then it might be time to look at IACV or at other things
