Air intake tubing length?

I've been wondering for a while, And I've also read somewhere, that the length of the air intake pipe will affect the power in certain rpm ranges.Can anyone help me with this before I stick a cone filter right onto my engine intake?

It has to be a certain length to the throttle body for the mafs to read correctly...
