I have a 2012 2.5s and I really wanna get an intake system. From what I've seen the 2.5s does the short ram intake? Is this different from a cold air intake?

Cool, another DFW member!

And yes the only intake we can get without extensive modding is a short ram intake, which by the design of the system is almost as good as cold air without doing the whole fender water splash drinking trick. Actually it depends on which brand you get, I believe the 3.5 has an AEM intake that has a heat shield plus a tube setup that takes air in from the hood/grill gap. I think the 2.5 is a bit different possibly (can't say, don't own a 2.5).

The 2.5 intakes take advantage of the grill mounted stock air scoop and snorkel that fresh air into the intake. K&N is probably the best as it has a sealing heat shield and a fresh air tube.

Might consider this mod as well, but cant see the benefits. I feel if you modify the air coming in you gotta modify the "air" going out and a new exhaust gets pricy. Still a 2.5 even if it sounds slightly better, haha. I agree with alex, cant go wrong with the K&N.
