While wating at the parts counter for my radiator caps, I struck up a conversation with the service manager, and he mentioned that sometimes air gets into the cooling system. I replied that I had heard my heater "gurgling", and he said that is the sign.

Question. How harmful is this?? He indicated that to solve it, some procedure had to be done with the front of the car elevated. Anyone heard of this?

thanks

He's right in point a)

I have used the nose up procedure myself, but there is a better one involving a programmed sequence on the AC/heater control to bleed it.

Its posted somewhere here ..

Try driving around for 20 minutes in high RPMs with the heat on full blast.

Perhaps this is to what Fred is referring.

Turn ignition on, press HVAC off button within 10 sec for 5 sec, press hot 3 times, press defrost 2 times, display should read 43, wait 10 sec before turning ignition off. Good luck!

Usually this is sloved by topping off the coolant at the filler neck a few times... the air bubbles tend to work their way over to that point.
