I have a SR with SMIC and ARC BOV. Timing is set at 16degree BTDC. I can hear the air coming through the air filter every time I get off the gas. The BOV opens as well. The car builds steady boost but hardly accelerates. It will also buck when boost first hits then gets smoother as it slowly climbs through the rev range, as long as you keep the motor in vacuum.

Okay, I have listened again on a 1 minute drive and I agree it is a boost leak. All clamps are tight and there are no visible leaks in the tubing or hoses. Wouldn't a vacuum leak cause a bad idle? It idles at 850rpm. Not new car smooth, but no shaking of the engine at all. I think I should check the i/c next. Your thoughts?

I pulled off the entire intake piping and checked everything. I could not feel any leaks at all. I replaced a bad hose clamp. Vacuum is sitting at 14inches at 850rpm idle. This a lower reading than initially so I know I have a leak. I have checked the timing again as shown in the FSM and it is at 15BTDC. The throttle plate adjustment screw has been moved. Does it have to be in the perfect position or just any that does hold the throttle open?

The car accelerated when I clamped the fuel return line. Pressure gave power. When I get a new fuel pump, I will check for other problems.
