Hi gents,
Im looking to buy something like the Apexi Neo or the SAFC to fine tune my map, Does any one have any advice which one i should go for? or even another option??

I think im going to go for the apexi boost controler so thinking it would look good if i had matching units, (are the apexi boost controllers worth the money or is there a better on for the money)

Any advice appreciated :biggrin:

They're both good units.

If you're not worried about looks, you might check this out;

Thats cool! i like it! :D
I have learnt that the SAFC 2 is the only model which had knock monitering of the apexi range, however that one doesnt seem to have it,

Anyone know of anyothers which have the fuel control aswell as knock monitering?

It's a bit more than just fuel control but Nistune will give you every thing that you are looking for and more. The chipset is only ~AU$250 and the software/licence is ~AU$170.

I have looked on the website but its unclear,
What features does the nistune type 1 for the ca18det offeR?
does it recordes the knock in the same format as say the rpm & temp? I have seen a couple of screen shots where it shows a graph with the various imputs shown.
how easy is it to map? the safc looks really easy to adjust & tweek the fuel curve.

I generally reccomend to ppl to have a chip burned for your general mods and then use the SAFC, etc. to fine tune it. This is really only worth the money if you're not planning on making many more modifications to the car from what you've done initially. If you have greater goals later on down the line, then the NISTUNE is the way to go.

Nistune is more than a signal fudger, it basically turns your factory ECU into a fully tuneable ECU. It acts as an interface between the factory ECU which uses HEX code to store address and maps etc, and the user. It allows the user to make changes like they would on an after market ECU using software that is very similar to after market tuning software.

It doesn't have a screen as such but if you plug a laptop in then you can bring up any parameter of your ECU that you like. You can monitor Knock but as you retain all your factory features the ECU retains knock control which is something you lose with a lot of aftermarket ECU's.

Have a read of these and they will give you some more info;

Contact Andy Vaughn at Autovaughn performance with any questions. He is a authorized nistune dealer and installer. He lives close to me and ive seen him install many type 1 CA boards plus many more. I got mine from him and love it.
