yeah my new car scent is fading as well. I'm wandering what type to get as well. I had one of the "new car" scented things in my other car and it did not really smell like a new car (smelt kinda bad actually). I'm wandering the same thing GryStrm.

x2...

...but since we're on the subject, it's more about the style of said air freshener that appeals to me. For instance, I have no idea what flavor mine is...but it's this really cool lookin' green and blue flip-flop that my wife found tucked deep within the bowels of a convenience store a while ago.I dig flip-flops.Flip-flops are life.

............and now I've truly out-gayed myself

lol such hatin toward these newb questions but u r rite ive noticed that in the past month or so the forum has slowed down but i think thats due to no more new parts comin out. thers not as much to talk about n to some people this is like a social thing to do but if it is we need an area to talk about social things....i know im not supposed to say this but g35nyc forum is awsome if u got a g35 itll b even better theres is set up perfectly. it has places to talk about everything....from the car to other cars, to pointless $hit, to selling ur stuff ....everything i think we should add another part so the poibtless talk stays in the pointless areas u know i mean just a thought

to regain your new car scent just take a garden hose and stick it in your exhaust and run it up to your window and close the window as much as possible. then sit in the car while the car is running for about 30 minutes. very simple and easy way!

this is just a joke people. don't really try it.

GryStrm, I wanted to reply to your comments that I quoted below. First, I understand and agree with a lot of what you say about the "dumb" things that are getting posted lately. I had a bit of a laugh about adding an extra "0" to the badge of the car, and wondered why the "where do you your cell phones" thread was even started and then kept alive. And there are definitely a lot of repeat threads being posted which could easily be answered by a quick search or doing some quick research on google.

However, I think the fact that some of these "dumb" threads are alive, and not being flamed on makes these forums different than the *other* 'big' Nissan forum, I'm sure you know one I'm talking about. I visit the other forum on occasion, but have only posted on this one. Reason being is that half the threads started by new people on the other forum are flamed instantly and told to use the search. There are some questions which, yes, a search could resolve very quickly, but then there are others which it would be hard to search for and find the answer. If you were to tell every new person to use the search without helping them, it brings out a certain elitism and hostility on the forum. I've been registered on these forums since November of last year and have less than 90 posts, yet I've probably come here every day since I registered. Reason I don't post more is because I'm not big into posting on forums...I'm more of a soak up the information and avoid the forum politics politics. The reason I finally started posting is because this forum is a fun and friendly place. People, generally, don't flame each other. People, for the most part, aren't elitist. People can start dumb or stupid threads and other people will respond without mocking them. I think that makes these forums fun and inviting for others, and will help bring in people that'll start more constructive threads, as you see them, and do the research and brainstorming that you're talking about.

So ultimately, I'm defending the dumb or seemingly useless posts. If a guy wants to know if it's alright if he adds a 0 to his badges, then good for him. Or if someone wants to share that they keep their cell phone between their legs (which I do too!) then great! It's pretty easy to just skip over a thread and not read it. I know that your post was in good fun too, and I did get a laugh when you first started this thread because I saw what you were doing, and I'm answering it a bit more seriously than I need to, but I'm just saying. There are some Nissan forums out there that are already riddled with elitism. I guess if someone likes that, then they have an option to go there and spam anyone who posts a thread they think is stupid or dumb. But I'm glad we do have a share of stupid threads because they 1. make me laugh and 2. you never know, someone might post a link to some really great cell phone sticky pad that you just have to have! But maybe that's just me being Canadian and accepting of everyone know...who knows

Could it have something to do with the age of the influx of newbs on here? Some of the ?'s I've seen sound like they're from teens.

if people would just post the random mumbo jumbo in the general forum we'd all be a lot better off. that way the mods, technicals, prototypes, write ups, group buys, video clips, what to do and what not to do, etc will be easier to find and not be spread out through a mess of meaningless information.I'm not trying to point a finger at anyone, but i think we could all post are stuff in the right place to make this forum (that's already set up to benefit these ideas) a better, more informative, easier to find important information place.

I think we should initiate instant bans! don't worry about stupid three strike and youre out rules, One out of place post and youre banned! That way we could ensure it NEVER happens again.

OR

If it bothers you that much, and trust me it gets me too, then answer their question and politely explain why we broke up the forums and encourage them to use them! Or if you don't know the answer, redirect them to the appropriate forum and explain that their question will have a much better chance of getting answered there. It's really great for the most part how we are so understanding, even of noobs. just explain the guidelines and you can be assured they wont do it again because they were told the right way what to do and how to do it.

Great post. I could care less what ppl want to talk about, this is a freeforum for us & we shouldn't give anyone grief for what they want todiscuss.

Think ppl get carried away thinking this is their forum so they can justgo ahead and dictate/criticize everything & everyone.

I wanted to share an observation on posting on the other sub forums.

Lately there's been a lot of "what do you think of these rims" threads on the Coupe forum. Now while I have no problem with them, and enjoy seeing the wide variety of rims people are considering, it was bugging me that so many were on the Coupe forum and no one was putting them where they belong, on the "Altima Suspension, Brakes, Rims and Tires" forum. So yesterday I went ahead and created my own thread on that forum asking about the reputations of a couple of wheel brands, since I know nothing about brands other than Volk and Momo. It was also a bit of a test to see what kind of response I'd get there vs posting it in the Coupe forum.

Results: 20 views, 0 replies. Compare that with the views/replies people get from posting in the main Coupe forum. One thread posted around the same time I posted mine has received 6 replies and 118 views. Other threads posted yesterday all have several replies and 100+ views. I think you'll see something similar with the Car Audio sub forum. It's generally only the same 3 or 4 people that reply to questions on there (and some of them like vballer22 and rjdmmfl1 are super knowledgeable and answer everything anyways!). It might be because just not that many people have car audio knowledge, but I suspect the (sometimes) lack of responses is more so because most people just don't check the sub forums.

So I'm not saying this to complain that no one's answering my question (although really, answer it ), I'm just saying that people will post all sorts of "crap" and "dumb" posts/questions/observations in the main Coupe forum because that's just where everyone looks or what everyone responds to. I bet if I had posted my question about wheel brand reputations on the main forum I'd have a whole bunch of replies by now. So if people aren't answering questions on other forums, and people just end up posting it all in one place, don't complain!!

i concur with all the posts about it being a free forum and you can speak what you wish....but alot of people use this forum for knowledge and experience..the vets helping the news...and the news evolving into vets helping out the newer-news...its the chain of knowledge...the passing on of experience that allows us to find out exacly how our NEW machines work what makes em tick...things like ..how does the little clip hold the bumper on..or..what wires do i need to run to get my amp working...or..my hids have one on one off issue.this is learning and growing...finding out the new mods to our cars that will enhance performance and REAL appearence ugrades....new spoilers, kits as opposed to adding a zero to the emblems....(sorry to the poster)my fear is this....with the veterens almost completing their mods to the point where they now know their machines like the back of their hands...whats to keep them here?...sharing info...keeping them interested...when your start seeing posts like.....my car got a flat tire what do i do? or what do i do when the battery dies in my remote...and believe me...seeing some of the stuff i have seen on here that day aint too far off...i know for a fact that you can only be asked to PS a spoiler so many times and ask which wire is the positive coming off the battery so many times before the answerer says "screw this im gonna go wash my car instead"

we are all here to learn, boast, and praise our cars, but some of the topics latley....just dont do any of this.

get it?

i think that with an assault of stickys we can stop most of these threads.. it will take a few hours of reading by MODs though... maybe adding a mod to merge threads and sticky stuff more often...

California Scents (Golden State Delight) I used to use that. It smells pretty good and is long lasting. I think they stopped making the sponge's though, you can only get the gels.

So on a serious note, I prefer the standard tree air freshners, coconut seems to be the least offensive, whilst vanillaroma may be a little on the feminine side but not so far as much as strawberry fields. Now on a situational note, to destroy that KFC chicken smell from bringing a bucket of fried goodness home, a nice blast of pine will do the trick, though beware if left bottled up in the car asphyxiation can occur for a few seconds upon entering the car for the 1st time in the day; temperature will add to this effect. Thus, one must take great care when donning the pine air freshner. All local and state environmental codes shall be followed when pine is in use.
