Periodically I find free software that can help members understand the Physics of flow.http://www.pressure-drop.com/

{{look at links section also}}

Since the intake from the throttle body to the air horn inside the air filter box approximates 3" thru its length you can have lots of fun calculating things.......the greatest pressure differential prior to the air horn is 7.5" W.C. with a brand new air filter at 90F, the MAF exhibits a 5.3" W.C. extra restriction.

Discover turbulent vs laminar flow; Reynolds numbers and how the interior roughness of a pipe [dirt/oily residue, carbon] affect the friction and how that heats the air charge.

Why I keep mentioning the cheapest HP increase come from cleaning the system to as new condition,

If a 3" pipe is big enough to feed the engine how much restriction do 2-2.25" exhaust pipes make........actually they are 13.6% Larger in AREA but longer by triple?

Remember that an engine is nothing more than a warm air to hot air - air pump.

Speaking about dirty intake.

YOu may (por may not) recall that I had my TB super cleaned last time at T3 to even include taken off the plenum and assorted good cleanings.

But I have in the last few months driven some of teh time with my tube going from TB to EGR to teh EGR disconnected. It broke off and various attempts to fix were not of lasting success. The flagne that teh tube gous over(into?) was broken offIn the end I broke done and had the dealer fix it with a new canister which included new connections.I understand that this may have dirtied my TB?

Is this significant am I looking at another TB cleaning? And if so to what standard should it be?

fred, i didn't totally understand your post. you had substance going into the canister but not into the TB, right? I think the only thing this would have done was spray dirty stuff all over your engine wherevere the hose may have laid. like i said, me no undastand.

There is a hose/tube going from the TB to the EGR.

It carries gas vapors into the EGR to condense back into gas.

This hose was disconnected for a long time in my case due to a broken part on the canister were it attached to the hose.MY attempts to fic (electrical tape, crazy glue eyc) were unsuccessful.

I ahve heard that such a condiion may cause the TB to get dirty to due gas fumes no longer getting sucked into EGR.

HOw significant is this problem.Do I need a new TB cleaning, .This concerns me especially as I recaived the super-duper TB cleaning with plenum removal at T3 for 400 including railflush.

So I know my TB was sqeaky clean 10 months ago. What are the chances it dirty again especially after teh lenghty problem with my connection to the EGR.

Pull the big intake hose off and take a look, it's an easy job.

For those of us who are not good typists, one can paste into word and spell check until this board provides a native spell checker. Pasting back into the text window will then result in flowing legible text.

I thought it was in tagalog at first.
