I've had my Rogue just over two years. Twice now, at quick oil change places, they've managed to break the side fastener off the air filter cover.

Anyone else have this problem? Anyone else know if there's a way to quickly order a cover without having to go to my Nissan dealer? Anyone know what the part number is?

Typically, vehicle specific parts like this can only be purchased from the dealer or an online Nissan parts store. ie. one of our site sponsors http://www.everythingnissan.com

The dealer will likely be the fastest... they should be able to get the part next day.

I have never experienced this problem before... but I have had several 'quick-change' oil places mess stuff up before. My tally so far: Stripped drain plugs, improperly installed filters, and overfilled engine oil. After the last time, I gave up and now change my own oil or take it to the dealer.

Thx. Just ordered it from the sponsor, and hopefully it'll get here fast!

No, but I never use those places myself.

Funny that I've just realized that this has happened to me. As I started to change my air filter, I noticed that one side of the cover was broken. The sad part is that I only take it to the same Nissan dealers so it had to be someone from there and it was never brought up to my attention. I will be checking it anytime anyone services it.

BTW, the Nissan factory part number is 16526JG30A and can be ordered from www.everythingnissan.com.

Personally, I think the person did not know how to remove the cover and in their hast, most likely broke it. Changing the air filter literally takes 5 seconds. The first time I did it was in a Autozone parking lot but I forgot the orientation on how it went in. I literally was trying to place it back in for 15-20 minutes, dumbfounded as hell on why it could not go back in. Quite embarrassing to say the lest. Trying to stay cool and acting like I was doing it on purpose. :lolling:

Inside my head I was screaming. :bowrofl:

In the end, once I finally got it in, it was a certain simple orientation I just could not get at first.

The point is, if it was a guy at one of these quick oil change places, I could just see the guy trying to jam this thing in if he made the same mistake. As for me, I was always gentle in trying to ease it in. :yesnod

I really thought I memorized how it look before I removed the filter, guess not. :facepalm2

Yeah I remember the first time trying to get the top off the air filter, I was using a flathead to try and pop it off and was like what the F! Till I finally realized you just push in and pull off  quite easy.

many years ago one of those quick lube joints added "courtesy" washer fluid that obviously was dirty and it clogged my nozzle. it ended up having the squirting ability of a chihuahua tinkle. never trust those joints. total morons.

Just my 2₵, but when I go to a shop I inform them up front of exactly what work I want done. I make a point of telling them not to change any filters as I do that myself, and I won't pay them to replace unnecessary stuff. :nono:

@ ImStricken... "chihuahua tinkle"? If your going to reference ankle biters, couldn't you at least have gone for something a bit more butch, like min pins? :rotfl

trust me, the whatever dirt was in the bottle they used to fill my washer fluid up with, that granule of grime turned my washer nozzle into a tinkle. hardly reached above where the "home" position is for the wipers. no matter how hard i tried, nothing unclogged it. needed a new nozzle. - after that, i stopped using any quick lube joints.
