Air Damper Doors Behind Radiator Shroud?

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

While blowing out the water thru the outside radiator grill with the hood up (I just finished washing the car) I noticed 2 pivoting flaps on top of the inside plastic radiator shroud just in front of and to the side of the coolant expansion tank that opened under the air pressure created by my air gun. I assume these are meant to either provide additional volume when the A/C fan is on or open while driving above a certain speed to allow additional flow (or less restriction) for the incoming cooling air?Kinda neet but I have no way of observing this in the actual driving mode of the vehicle.Interesting engineering and just one more cost they thought through in the Design and Development of this vehicle. Anyone else noticed these flaps or have a better idea of why they were put there?
