air conditioning will only blow through defrost vent

My AC will only work through the defrost vents. I had into Nissan Dealer and they quoted $1800 - $2200 to possible quote blower motor or cable. They are not sure. They say the cost is related to the pulling the dash out. Is this true or should I find another mechanic

does the heat only blow throught defrost also? sounds like the mode door actuator may be failed or the door its self is broken.

everything blows through the defrost. The knob on the counsel is jammed and will not turn. Is this door difficult to replace/fix

so you cannot tunr the mode door switch from the hvac control head? does the vehicle have auto air or just manual controls?
