Hello, I having an issue with water ruuning onto the passenger side floor boards. Im pretty sure the water is from the AC unit. I assume there is a clog in the drain lines or box. My question it what would be the best way to solve the issue. Can I access the lines from the glove box ? the dealer told me to use air compressor and blow aie up the drain tube located at the fire wall.

Thanks for any suggestion.

Welcome to NICO.

Yes, your evaporator drain line is clogged. But I don't know which car and model year you have. In general, the drain line goes thru an orange tube close to the firewall and wheel well. So jack up the front pax side of the car, install jack stands, and then look for that tube. You can use a wire (or coat hanger) or compressed air to unclog the line. If unsuccessful, you may have a lot of debris inside the evaporator/blower box. You may have to remove the glove box to access the drain hole.

Thanks is there anything inside the draintube that can be damaged if I use a wire. BTW I have the an 04 I35. I took out the glove box yesterday. Not sure I want to take apart the blower box. Are there any directions on the net for the blower box.

Since you have taken out the glove box, then you can remove the Cabin Air Filter. The filter is replaced annually as it can get dirty, or worse, molds forming around it. Once the filter is out, you can see the bottom of the evaporator box. Remove any debris lying around. The drain hole is towards the back of the evaporator. Refer to pages HA-117 & 118 in the link provided below for location:

Thanks for the info. Tried everything suggested. Ended up being on the outside firewall. there was no seal around the drainhose. water was leaking back inside the car.

Could you please clarify what you meant by "no seal around the drain hose?" As in my 1st response, I stated that the drain tube is near the firewall-wheel well as it has to come out of the evaporator to discharge the water.

The hole where the drain hose sticks out of the fire wall. There didnt seem to be a tight seal to fill the gap around the drain hose where it sticks out of the hole in the firewall.

So some of the water would run out the tude then back toward the fire wall and back into the gap between the hose and where the hose sticks out of thw fire wall.

I hope I explained if corretly in one of the statements above.

How did you actually seal the hose coming out? Did you use an "O" ring or caulk? How did you seal it? Most importantly, did it work?

It depends on how you want it sealed - RTV/caulk is flexible while stuff like JB Stik Weld is stiff when dry. A cheap alternative is plumbers putty but not sure if it would hold over time.

Did it actually stop the leak? Mine seems to be leaking very bad, I have had it at the dealer and they tried to blow out the lines and that didn't work. They said they may have to take the dash apart which will cost big $$. I am hoping this is the fix.

Please let me know. Thanks for the replies so far!

jack up the car and look to see if the seal around the drain is gone. If there is a gap between the drain tube and the fire wall, I would use silicone.
