This kind of goes along with another thread here

I have a 96 240sx SE. The air will not change modes when buttons are pressed. First I thought the actuator/s were blown. But when the blower is on low and you cycle through the buttons you can hear the actuator working( I think)

What do you think it would be?I just want to know some things to look for before pulling the dash out of my DD.

Does it work on one speed only? If so, check the blower motor resistor as that is usually your problem.

No, the blower motor works perfect. When I say modes I mean different air routes (Face, Feet, Defrost, Feet&Defrost, Face&Feet)

That is the only problem I have had. But I havent checked to see if the recirculate option works.

How many actuators are inside that box (the white one) and how many doors?

I'm not 100% about those. Are they electric or are they vaccum operated?

I believe that they are electric.

I would go to a boneyard and see if you can dig up a used one and throw it in. The motor is probably burnt out or it could be a relay. Check the relay for that and see if it's working when you hit the switch.

Ill see what I can find. But all of the junk yards around here only have a couple 240's and they are stripped.

Now the damn thing switches modes. But it does so slowly. It used to be stuck on face & feet. But since its gotten hotter out Ive pushed the face button and left it. Then one or two days later it comes out of where I specified.

That said it would most likely be the motor right?
