I was troubleshooting my A/C system today and came to no conclusion as to what may be wrong. I checked all the fuses and they were not blown. Checked for bad wiring and also found nothing. The heater/fan works perfectly. It’s just that the a/c doesn’t. The A/C button does not light up when it is pressed. The a/c clutch doesn’t engage also. There seems to be no power going to the a/c system. It looks like an electrical issue. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

There's just that one (or was it two?) that runs from the engine harness down to the ac compressor. Check for continuity across those wires. also check to make sure the wires running from the actual plug are still connected at the compressor.

b4 poking around the electrical...

is there any freon in the system?

low pressure switch is activated to save your compressor if there's no freon in the system

It could also be the relay located near the stock airbox. Swap it with one of the others in there, I think there are three that are interchangeable.

I had the same problem. I bought the car without knowing the a/c compressor was unpluged (I am stupid, I know). Then I converted it to the R134a and change the a/c compressor. And ever since I did that, the climate control for the a/c and the blowing option would not work (the cold and hot option and the fan control is working though). What am I suppose to do?

the cold and hot lever temperature control(aka blend door) is the only mechanical component so its the last thing that can break.

everything else runs on a motor on a linkage (there is only 2 of them: air recirculation & main vents controls.) make sure your getting power to the (((push control unit))) & proper ground & good fuses. try pushing the the vent push buttons while watching the motor move, if it doesnt, check for 12v at the motor.

if the blower is not working : fan switch, relay/fuse , resistor, blower motor.

wish i could help more but i gotta study.

definetly take it to a/c shop have them clean and remove air/moisture the refrigerant. check the levels of the freon & oil, if its low, it probably means theres a leak. they have a freon leak detector or special die they mix with the freon makes it easier to spot leaks. a common place it leaks is by the seals on the compressor which dries up if you dont use your a/c. if you dont care, just top it off. but if you got r12a its going to be expensive. better get a r134 retrofit. remember not to mix (freon & oil) and get it poperly retrofitted.
