Okay, so now I 've got my air conditioning working. But the air that comes out is a bit on the warm side. With my whole KA setup the air would be ICE cold, you guys all know how good the AC is. Now the air is like.. ehh.. farily cold/borderline warm. It's my stock compresser, lines, etc. on my SR. The clutch engages and there is prenty of R-134a (that's what it takes it's a 1995 SE). Any ideas why it's not working correctly? Only thing I can think of is the AC lines right right next to the turbo, which is hot, ya.. So the lines are all really hot, no matter where you touch the AC line it's hot. Might that be the issue?

My a/c line is basically almost touching my turbo also. The thing is, after my a/c is running for a few mins, the line gets sweaty and cold. Inside the car, the air blows cold as stock. Are you sure you have the correct amount of freon in there? Last I checked, my a/c was slightly above or at 45psi while the a/c compressor was on (low pressure side).

I'd check the freon level, also did you evauate the system before you re-charged it? That could have somthing to do with it (dirt inside) and if you didn't clean it out you might also have plugged up the dryer (almost certian you did if you left the system open for any period of time).

You might want to check the dryer and re-evacuate and then charge it again.

Also there is an addative called "Super cool" (or somthing like that) that's supose to drop the air temp by like 18%. I put some of that in my SR as a top off after I put the 3 bottles of R134 in and noticed a slight improvement.

Hope that helps,

Paul

It is possible that you had too much in there. That's what happened when I got mine refilled at first...then some was taken out and it gets ICE cold!

Okay, it's no bad now. I added some more. It's still not as cold as stock, but when I drive around with the AC on it starts to heat the car up too much (stock radiator), so i've gotta get a Koyo first, or some fans. After that i'll take it to a shop, because I can't figure it out. It might just be flow on the condencer, because when the car is moving is ALMOST as cold as stock, but not quite (moving at like 50mph).

Get some fans dude. They're cheap and they keep the car running cooler than the stock KA!

I do not have a problem with mine at all. I am using the SR's stock clutch fan with no radiator shroud with stock s14 ka radiator. My a/c fan is also not hooked up. I can have my a/c running at a stand still for as long as I want, and it will not overheat the car or blow hot air (not as cold as moving since rpm is low at idle). The only problem I have with my a/c is that I seem to get more lag with it on while driving (low end preboost power drain) and makes it feel like a civic.

Mine did that too. Can you do that when it's 100 degrees out though? Your setup is the same as mine, I have no shrous and a stock KA radiator. I know what you mean about feeling like a Civic with the AC on. It seems to take even longer to spool. :)

It rarely gets 100 degrees outside around here, but I do use my a/c a lot and see days anywhere from 85-95 degrees outside. You could always try rigging up the stock condensor fan by hooking a power relay up to it. Use the compressor 12v to trigger the fan since the fan needs to be on when the compressor is. It will also help pull extra air through the radiator since the fan is on the radiator itself and will probably help reduce overheating problems at standstills.
