We have a 2008 Altima with the dual sided air. When the air is on 60 or 61 cool air blows.. 62- 90 and heat blows out. We have had the car for less than 5 months now and took it to the Nissan dealer we got it from to have it looked at - they said there is nothing wrong with it that is the way it is supposed to be and other people have also complained of this (my wife picked it up so I couldn't yell at anyone ). She was told to use the auto command - which then blows hot air on your feet instead of your face. I called Nissan (1-800 #) and told them of the problems and after a couple of days I got a call back from the dealer saying they would look at it again. When I took it back this time they were trying to tell me there was nothing they could do again.. (I was there this time ) - So now they are going to do everything they can do to fix it.. He said "Every 08 Altima in the lot does the same thing" - I find it hard to believe that being the truth considering anywhere on the internet I look I don't see anyone having this problem. They are going to replace the air conditioning control panel first and go from there. Anyone with the same problem? Ideas?

I have had issues with my AC but not the same thing you describe. There have been several issues with compressors (mine was making a rattling noise and the dealer replaced it) and one of the auto mags who had an Altima for a long term test car had the compressor go out at 39k.

The issue you describe is NOT normal. If it is warm/hot outside and you put it on "auto" and set the temp around 65 or even higher, it should blow ice cold AC out the top vents until the car cools down. The dealer is full of crap.

The dealer near me is excellent-it would be a haul for you up to Kennesaw though....

I have dual auto climate control on my 2008 2.5 SL and I pretty much leave it set to 71F. On a hot day, it blows cold air til it reaches 71F. I just love it when the dealer say all the cars do the same thing. Remember, if 2 wrongs don't make a right, then 100 wrongs definitely don't make it any more acceptable.

fcorrect, if all their cars do the same thing, then all their cars are jacked up...mine works fine and does not exhibit the behavior yours does. The only AC problem i have heard so far was for last years 4 Gens...I think the 2.5's, some of the bolt holding the AC unit weren't torqued to specs letting the ac unit fail at providing cold air.

Good luck, raise hell till its fixed.

I didn't forget about this post.. it really took that long to fix. They finally agreed to fix the problem and said they would need to order a piece for the dash - took 4 1/2 months to get the right piece. Last week they went to install the piece and notice there is no vacuum hose.... So they install one and been working perfect since.

Hello Everyone. I realize this post is pretty old but I would really appreciate it if someone could help me out. I just bought an 07 Altima 2.5 sl and I am experiencing this exact issue with the HVAC controls. There is no warranty left on the car so I would have to pay Nissan to get the problem fixed. @drwalls, could you please tell me what part was changed? I read somewhere else about someone having this issue on an Altima coupe and they said that after taking their car to Nissan 4+ times, they still couldn't fix it. Any help would really be appreciated! Thanks
