air conditionig = pwer sucker
every time i turn on my ac the engine jups from 800 to 1300 rpm.....is this much xtra work normal? is there anything i cando besides not use ac? my gf won't ride in it withoutthe ac (and i can't blame her.....it's f****** 90 degrees by 8 am!)

after the disclaimer, are you asking as what you can do to stay cool? or if it's normal that when you turn on you a/c the revs jump up? it is normal don't worry about it, the only down side to being cool is you end up using more fuel.

tampais where i'm at, and i was exaggerating (tho only slightly) i was wondering if perhaps my compressor might be going bad, or what.... i know the rpms goup with the ac on, but they almost double........ i've never seen them go up that much b4...is it stan age thing with the car? btw, 106000 miles, 993 se......anythingi can do? thanx, ya'll!
I live in the humid hell they call Florida too , so I know and feel your pain, and have felt it for 10 long years....blah..(I live in Hudson., go to school in Tampa)
do you really notice a difference when driving though?
like lets say you're cruising at 2500 in 5th, and turn the a/c off/ondoes the car jump or no big difference?
at idle, I notice a difference if it is off or onbut once I am actually driving.. I barely notice the difference
so, of course I always drive with it on, and the windows up
