hey everyone, i've been trying to get my air conditioner to blow cold for a couple days now and i have 2 problems...

1. the big silver hose that is connected about 3 inches from the top of the valve cover, wayy at the back of the engine bay, is loose. How do i tighten this? it's very hard to reach and there are 2 vaccum lines in front of it...:(

2. we cant find the low side fitting! where is it? lol

The low side fitting is wayyy down at the bottom near the PS pump, probably below your intercooler lines, look look there and you'll find it. It's a ***** to get to though, everything is in the way. Luckly you've only got to do it once.

You tighten it with a 17 and 20mm wrench. Have fun, it's a PITA.

I hope you didn't cut out the lowside fitting when you did your custom lines.

While we are talking about AC. I had trouble with mine a couple weeks ago. It was turning on and off frequently. A trusted local mechanic said something about my "head" pressure going up too high and shutting off the compressor. He said that it was becasue i didn't have a fan that ran with the AC anymore. I'm pretty sure thats true because when my radiator fan finally does kick on (my SR runs very cool) the AC stays cold.

It's probably just the compressor doing it's normal cycling. It cycles with pressure or somthing in the AC lines. If you don't have good flow across the condenser, the AC sux. I know because mine is pretty worthless if I’m not going at least 50mph. Intercooler takes up all the flow :(

Rob, my a/c does that too when I am not moving. It also only does it on hot days. It is due to the fact that when the compressed refridgerant flows through the condensor, it is supposed to drop in pressure by releasing its heat temperature. If the condensor is heat soaked, it can't drop too much pressure and the compressor keeps trying to cycle (on off on off on off) in very quick intervals due to a pressure safety switch. Just hook up a relay for some fans to kick on everytime the condensor see's power (splice). It can be rigged up to work with aftermarket or stock a/c fan.
