I have found a flow chart for checking the AC system before, using the SEARCH feature, but I cannot seem to find it today. I could sure use a link.

My problem, if anyone has any ideas, is: When it started to go last year, the ac system would cut out occaisionally. Now, it hardly ever works. I get no completion across the coil jumpers on the compressor or the fan relay blocks, but sometimes when I short the compressor relay jumpers, I will suddenly get 13 volts across the coil jumpers. It will last maybe 10 minutes and then no ac again. I have shorted the low freon sensor harness but did not see any change.

A link to the flow chart or any other help will be appreciated. Thanks.

Oh, and its a 92 240sx KA24de 5-speed if all that matters.

I would suggest to hook up some a/c gauges to see if you have a restriction. I had the same issue where it would work for 5 to 10 minutes and then shut off. The high side pressure was going too high because my receiver dryer was clogged. Evacuated a/c, replaced dryer, and recharged...Ice cold now.....Good luck....

Thanks for the link, Jerome.

I never thought about the high side. I'll work on it when I have time this weekend and let you know what I find.

Thanks for your help.

I finally had time today to work on the car and I used the flow chart from the FSM to trace down the problem. Everything checked out fine until I got to the thermo control amp. When I tried to unplug the harness from the amp, the system kicked on. It has worked as I turned the system on and off several times. I guess the harness or the where the wires terminated to the harness was loose. I will be driving the car later and will see if it continues to work. If not, I'll be posting some more.

Thanks to you two for your help.

I have and update. The problem was with the thermo control amp, but not the wiring harness.......sort of. I could get the compressor to kick on if I "jiggled" the wiring harness by reaching from under the dash with the car running. As this method increasingly did not fix the problem, I had to remove the box and open it up. What I found was that the three solder joints coming from the harness receptacle had come loose. I broke out my soldering iron and the problem is fixed.
