Problem: Initially, intermittent cool, warm air. No clicking on/off of compressor like others had. Then, a week later, only hot air. Also, hear hissing sound during this transition. Also, would hear air blowing out from near glove box, but that would go away. Pressure in air flow was intermittently reduced at times. Now, just warm/hot air coming out, no rapid on/off clicking, and good pressure flow.

I changed out the TCA (Thermal Control Amplifier Nissan part 27675-9Z000, http://www.nissanparts.cc/cart/?pn=27675-9Z000) and that did not solve the hot air problem. It evidently is a fix for many other people though.

Is this due to a leak somewhere?

Pressure hose?

Will I need to recharge?

Thanks in advance for any tips on this.

At least have experience changing TCA and knowing where to change out filters for cabin air.

You almost certainly lost your freon. Once the pressure drops below a certain level, the compressor will no longer cycle.

I've had lines fail on both my Xterra and my Frontier. The Frontier high side hard line had a hole rubbed in it, and the low side line on the Xterra developed a leak at one of the crimps.

Most shops will do a full diagnostic leak down test for $50-80.

Agreed - sounds like a leak. Happened to my old car, the a/c was just blowing out the same air as normal air - got the freeon recharged, and the systems was blowing out ice cubes.
