Sometime in the last year I remember reading about replacing the display acreen for the air conditioner. Now that I'm ready to fix my 90 Q45t, I can't seem to find that thread on the forums!

Two quick questions:

1) How to take the dash apart to remove the display panel - Do I follow the instructions given for removing the dash on a 90-93 Q45 as posted by Daniel, or is a different procedure needed?

2) Does anyone know of a source for rebuilt display units, and whether they actually work well?

Thanks in advance for anyone's help. I have had this car apart for a year now and it is the forums and interest shown by its members that keep my interest alive!

John:)

#1-Start at the shifter console and work your way up.

#2-Jerry Tucker will fix your LED display if it's out, any other problems require a new box from Joe for $500. A used unit is as likely to be bad as your old one, or about to fail.

How to properly remove the dash:http://www.nicoclub.com/forums...28201Set the parking brake before putting the shifter in D. I have a habit of forgetting that part. :)

You can skip the stuff about the steering wheel housing cover and such I think you only need steps 3-9.

Thanks, 911/Q45 and Jesda. Sounds like you both agree I don't need to do the complete routine listed by Daniel. That will make things easier. I could use a little of that.

The air conditioner was operating fine when I purchased the car, only the display didn't work. I'll just assume that is the problem and take it from there if a replacement doesn't work.

Now, how do I get in touch with Jerry Tucker???

Here's another link to tell you how to remove the climate control unit. Just replace "remove screws for radio" with "remove screws for climate controller" and you've got it!

Yes, it's pretty easy. Just be careful with the ash tray, as it can be very brittle. After the facia is off, you'll be suprised just how easy it is.
